About Us

At Team K Taekwondo, our school has grown from a small, dedicated group of students into a strong martial arts community serving the Oakland area. From the beginning, our goal has been to teach more than just kicking and punching. Here, it is about building discipline, confidence, respect, and perseverance.

As the school has grown, so have the opportunities for students to challenge themselves, with many proudly representing Team K in local and regional competitions. Students can also take part in our Demonstration and Forms Teams, which offer additional ways to develop skills and represent the school at special events. Today, Team K continues to grow while still creating a welcoming place where students can train hard, support one another, and grow into the best versions of themselves.

Grandmaster Jaegwan Kim

Grandmaster Kim built Team K around a simple idea: Taekwondo should be more than just a class. It should be a community.

With years of experience in training, competition, and instruction, he brings a strong and structured approach to teaching. What truly defines his school is the environment he creates. Students train together, support each other, and build real connections that extend beyond the mat through events, gatherings, and shared experiences.

That sense of team does not replace discipline. It strengthens it. Master Kim believes that when students feel supported, they push each other to improve, grow, and stay accountable.

For parents, that means your child is not just learning techniques. They are becoming part of a community that expects them to grow and helps them do it.
